Nuotio, Eppu (Autorin)
Eppu Nuotio (born Eija-Riitta Silvennoinen, 13 February 1962 in Iisalmi, Finland) is a Finnish actress, author, screenwriter, playwright and columnist. After having graduated from the Iisalmi Lukio (High School), Nuotio studied dance and mime in France and screenwriting in New York City. She has appeared on several Finnish television series as well as at theaters. Eppu has written over 60 books, children books, crime-series, poems and novels, over 500 tv-programs. She has won many prices: Award for Finnish Picture Books, 1995 Koura Prize, Finnish Television Award from the children movie Summerpost (seen also in Germany),1999 Luku-Varkaus Award, the best children book of the year, 2008 Kirjava Kettu award, 2009, from the childrenbook called Kingi Laivakello-Prize, 2010 from entire career Kaarina Helakisa-award for her career as an Author.
She has written together with Tiina Brännare: Diamond in the Rough Behind everything is a woman, musicalcomedy Second hand Boy, Whole family play, adaption from my childrensbook Delilah, trillermusicalcomedy Once in the summertime, summercomedy with summerhits Liz the musical Room 119, comedy for four Mother in laws, comedy for two In 2002, Eppu Nuotio became a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF. She has expressed her concern about sufficiency of potable water in developing countries. In 2008, she made her first trip to Africa to visit people in need.
Private life: Eppu Nuotio is married to the Finnish stage director Kurt Nuotio (born 1939). His native language is Swedish. They have three children. The Nuotio family used to live on a small island called Hiittinen in the south-western archipelago of Finland ca 130 kilometers west of Helsinki.
