BAMBI is surely one of the most beautiful stories about growing up that exists.
After his successful stage adaptations of SCROOGE and HEIDI, Michael Schanze has now created the new musical, BAMBI. He has expanded the classic story and created a vibrant band of musical forest-dwellers who speak a language rooted in the present day, and who will thus appeal to every child, young and old.
Songs about friendship, love and responsibility resound, in up-tempo numbers and reflective ballads and always delivered with Michael Schanze’s trademark memorable melodies.

BAMBI - the new circle-of-life musical from the pen of Michael Schanze, tells the story of BAMBI, who grows from a little fawn to become the Prince of the Forest. All the animals in the forest are in turmoil: they have heard the mighty roar of the Prince of the Forest, not once, not twice, but three times! It can only mean one thing, and the NOEL the wise owl knows - a new prince has been born – BAMBI!
The animals hurry to greet the new arrival, as BAMBI’s life begins. He learns about the seasons of the year and how to find his way around the forest. In THUMPER the rabbit and WHIFFY the squirrel, he finds lifelong friends. Of course, BAMBI also has to go to school and learn important things, such as the alphabet and what it means to bear responsibility.
Following the death of his mother RAE, BAMBI comes to realise that the world is not all good, and has to defend himself against jealous rivals and dangerous hunters. He also finds the love of his life, FALINE. The piece concludes with BAMBI roaring, not once, not twice, but three times! There are new offspring to behold once again, and the circle of life is complete.
Who doesn’t know the story of BAMBI, by the Austro-Hungarian writer Felix Salten, published in 1923? Since the Disney adaptation of BAMBI in 1942, BAMBI has been recognised and loved around the globe.
With his new musical adaptation, bursting with fresh melodies, and a book packed with pathos and humour, Michael Schanze brings magical entertainment to the stage for all the family.
